Richard David James, born 18 August 1971 in Limerick, is a British musician known under his pseudonyms Aphex Twin, Polygon Window, Caustic Window, The Tuss, Bradley Strider, GAK, Power-Pill, and AFX. He is often regarded as one of the pioneering figures in modern electronic music, techno, acid, drum and bass, IDM, and ambient music. In 1991, he founded the record label Rephlex Records together with his friend Grant Wilson-Claridge.

Aphex Twin became well known for his highly surreal and unusual music videos, including Come to Daddy (1997) and Windowlicker (1999), both created by director Chris Cunningham. He is currently signed to the record label Warp Records.

He rarely gives interviews and prefers to stay out of the public spotlight in his private life. He has two sons from a previous relationship and now lives in Scotland.
